Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Aerospace has one of the widest ranges of seals for use in aerospace engines, ranging from high temperature O-Rings over highly customized fire seals, fan blade seals, rotary seals for gearboxes, to metallic seals and thermal shielding products. 

Airflow FireSeals

Blade root seal

These seals are located at the root of the fan blades in the cold by pass section of the engine. They are often fixed on the platform between the fan blades and contribute to the efficiency of the engine.
  • Reduces air recirculation at the blade root for greater engine efficiency, lowering fuel burn and CO2 emissions
  • Maintains the seal profile under high g-forces resulting in longer service life as extrusion damage is reduced
  • Can include a metal or composite insert

Where hot air is taken off the engine for use in de-icing, cabin heating or other purposes, these fire resistant bleed air seals are used to ensure a flexible and at the same time a tight connection.

  • Many options for fastening to the engine structure. Here the seal is shown with “Pips”. They are silicone protrusions that are used to fasten the seal to the structure, by pulling them through a hole until they sit in place.
